Each year in Aintree, Liverpool droves of women in fancy dresses, wild hats, and of course high heels arrive at John Smith’s Grand National horse race ready to party. While these high fashion stiletto-wearing ladies look like they just stepped off a runway many of them drink so much that the event can get a bit rowdy.

The tradition of ladies day dates back for decades when it was real ladies that attended the races. Nowadays they let any old slappers in. I work in the A&E dept of Liverpool hospital and ladies day is one of our busiest of the year due to drunken "ladies" either getting into fights or falling off their shoes while drunk.
